ZLCMS is Zipline Interactive’s open source Content Management Solution. We’ve designed it as a powerful website administration framework, which enables our clients to fully manage their own site content. ZLCMS is easily extendable, meaning for each client we will insert different plug-ins and features to the program to make it more usable for their specific needs. As far as the technical specs, it is developed using the PHP scripting language and utilizes a MySQL database for content storage.
We wanted to create a system that allowed our clients to keep the aesthetic elements of their site, but also keep their site updated in a user friendly way. Often our custom creative designs could not fit into more generic CMS systems. Instead of compromising our designs, we wrote our own custom open source application to allow our customers to manage their websites while maintaining the integrity of their custom Zipline Interactive website designs.
Not only did we choose to use open source for our customers, but we also are firm believers in open source development. Our goal is not to lock our clients into an expensive proprietary CMS system like many design firms. Our open source environment allows our clients to own and manage their own website. Open source development also provides our customers with the ability to have other web developers manage and extend their CMS system if the need should arise.
